As women age, the production of estrogen declines naturally. In other words, menopause occurs when there is not enough supply of estrogen. This decrease in the production of estrogen leads to the perimenopause symptoms of hot flashes, insomnia, and mood changes, as well as post-menopausal osteoporosis and vaginal atrophy.
Menopause is the end of the reproductive years whereby women experience hormonal fluctuations. Menopausal women are often unfamiliar with the types of bodily changes they are undergoing and may require a period of adjustment to the accompanying effects of these changes.
